The story: Kinga & Attila

More than 10 years ago we made the decision to move to Dublin, Ireland.
As our original profession was always in the hospitality business, we started working in the same sector here too. Attila was managing some well-known restaurants while I was working in different segments of the hospitality industry and started baking at home on my days off.

Dublin is a very multi-cultural city nowadays and through that we gained international inspiration. We also spent alot of time travelling within Europe and America.

One day I decided to bring my knowledge to the next level and applied for a course, Baking and Pastry Arts Management at TUD (Technical University of Dublin) where I had the chance to meet worldwide famous bakers and fantastic inspiring teachers.

I had the chance to participate in different workshops in Ireland, UK, France and Belgium.
On our holiday in California we spend a few days in San Francisco where I finally realised that bread would be “my new profession”.

I was really delighted winning “The best sourdough” and the “Best fermented product” of the competition organised by ABST in 2017.

Last year, in 2018, we dreamed big and decided to move back to Budapest to make it happen.

The name: arán bakery

Arán means bread in the Irish language. Bread is the key product of every bakery as it is reflects the quality of the whole unit.
We would like to show you how we like sourdough bread but you can also find some special Irish cakes here and certainly some of the classic Hungarian ones too.

All of our products are home made.

The sourdough: Paddy

Our sourdough was born in Dublin, having Irish, American, British, French, Canadian and Hungarian roots. Paddy is the nickname for Patrick, St. Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland.

The bakery

Located in the popular 7th district of Budapest at the corner of Wesselenyi and Nagy Diofa Street. Well-made, smart design in minimal and industrial style. All of our products are made with Hungarian flour and quality ingredients. Basic and seasonal bread and pastry and other products changing on weekly basis. We source our coffee from a small Hungarian coffee roaster.

The love of the quality, the flour and the sourdough is essential for us.
